Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: LAGOM SAFETY LTD This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is interested in sales, marketing, and business development within a professional and regulated industry. You will play a key role in supporting business growth by helping to generate leads, engage with potential clients, and promote our services. You will receive full training and ongoing support, including learning about UK/NI health and safety legislation and our range of services.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets.
- Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation.
- Generate leads and cold call prospective customers.
- Meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone.
- Foster and develop relationships with customers/clients.
- Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
- Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them.
- Seek ways of improving the way the business operates.
- Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with trends and changes in the business world.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain health and safety services clearly and confidently to a non-technical audience.
- Basic understanding of sales and marketing principles, including lead generation, customer engagement, and brand awareness.
- Confident use of digital tools, including email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Facebook or similar).
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, prospects, and internal teams.
- Willingness and ability to learn health and safety legislation, services, and industry terminology.
- Basic data handling and reporting skills, including tracking sales leads and marketing performance metrics.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a sales, marketing, customer service, or business development role.
- Familiarity with the health & safety, compliance, construction, manufacturing, or facilities management sectors.
- Basic knowledge of NI health and safety legislation (e.g. HSE guidance), or willingness to work towards relevant training.
- Experience creating or editing marketing content, such as social media posts, blog articles, newsletters, or basic graphics.
- Understanding of SEO, website analytics, or paid digital advertising.
- Experience using CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho).
- Confidence making outbound calls or attending networking events.
- Ability to interpret sales and marketing data to support decision-making.
- Experience supporting campaign planning or product/service launches.
- A relevant qualification or training in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
