Board Game Club Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: BATTLE INC GAMING CIC To support the smooth running of club sessions and events by welcoming members, assisting with games, maintaining the venue, and helping create a friendly, inclusive, and well-organised environment.
Responsibilities
- Stocking shelves and fridges, making sure booked tables are ready for the groups who have booked them.
- Welcome members and visitors to the club.
- Give tours of the club and explain how it runs.
- Help guests choose suitable games based on interests and group size.
- Explain basic rules or direct players to rulebooks / video tutorials.
- Promote events, new games, and special offers.
- Encourage a positive, inclusive, and respectful club atmosphere.
- Set up tables, chairs, and gaming areas before sessions.
- Assist with running events, tournaments, or themed nights.
- Provide support to volunteers, GMs, or hosts during club nights.
- Help monitor attendance and take payments / bookings if required.
- Ensure games are returned correctly and stored neatly.
- Keep play areas tidy during and after sessions.
- Help keep the venue clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Follow health & safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Report any issues, incidents, or hazards to the manager/committee and fill in any forms required.
- Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and members.
- Support community values of inclusivity, respect, and fun.
- Take initiative to improve the club experience.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Available to work evenings and weekends.
- Interest in board games and willingness to learn new ones. And, enthusiasm for games, community spaces, & creative hobbies.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Able to work in a busy, social environment.
- Ability to work with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and creating a safe space.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Respect for confidentiality and organisational values.
- Alignment with Battle Inc’s mission as a sober, inclusive community space.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in hospitality, customer service, events, or gaming spaces.
- Knowledge of a wide range of board games.
- Confidence teaching or explaining games.
- First aid or safeguarding awareness (training can be provided).
- Ability to handle bookings or cash/card payment - training will be provided.
- Reliable and punctual.

The Employer is: BATTLE INC GAMING CIC JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information - Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. - Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. - Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
