Job description
The Mews is a Positive Behaviour Support Service (PBS) which consists of 12 single occupancy apartments located in West Belfast. The service provides a Person-Centred approach through supported living solutions to service users with Learning Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and complex needs. The Service operates under the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Framework and provides 24hr care and support.
Responsibilities
- The Social Inclusion Officer will be responsible for developing, facilitating and coordinating social and community networking opportunities for service users living in the Mews.
- The Social Inclusion Officer will support the management, team leader and support worker team in ensuring meaningful activity is delivered in the service under Positive Behaviour Support Framework.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 3rd level qualification: QCF level 3/or equivalent level professional qualification.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of supporting people with disabilities or other vulnerable individuals to enhance their community engagement.
- Minimum of 1 years paid experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities or autism spectrum disorder and complex needs. Minimum of 1 years’ experience supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge.
- Effective verbal and written communication to include numeracy skills. Knowledge of relevant public bodies and community organisations that can support social and community engagement opportunities.
- High level of competency in IT to include Microsoft Office packages.
