Community Investment Officer
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: TOWNSEND ENTERPRISE PARK The Community Investment Officer will support the development and delivery of a new community investment programme which seeks to improve outcomes for local people living within the area. The postholder will work with communities, and partners, to help deliver projects, gather feedback, identifying how best Townsend Enterprise could provide assistance to ensure activities and communities can be effective in achieving their outcomes and be sustainable. This is deal for someone who has worked in this field or is keen to develop a career in community development, regeneration, or social investment.
Responsibilities
- Community Engagement & Support - Support engagement with community groups, residents, and local partners. Attend meetings, events, and activities, taking notes and gathering feedback. Help build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Project & Programme Support - Assist with the delivery of community investment projects and initiatives. Help organise meetings, workshops, and community events. Maintain accurate records, files, and basic project documentation.
- Monitoring & Reporting - Collect basic monitoring information such as attendance figures and feedback. Support simple reporting on activities and outcomes. Assist with case studies and evidence of impact.
- Financial & Administrative Support - Help maintain simple budget records and spreadsheets. Support grant administration tasks as required.
- Compliance & Professional Standards - Follow organisational policies, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all activities. Carry out duties in a professional and ethical manner.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Working with People - Ability to listen to community members and stakeholders. Comfortable talking to people from different backgrounds.
- Understanding Community Needs - Willingness to learn about local communities and their priorities. Ability to gather basic information through conversations, surveys, or meetings. Awareness that different communities have different needs.
- Teamwork & Partnership Support - Working well as part of a team. Supporting colleagues and partner organisations.
- Basic Financial Awareness - Understanding that projects work within a budget. Ability to keep simple records or spreadsheets. Willingness to learn about funding and grant processes.
- Monitoring - Helping collect feedback, attendance numbers, or simple data. Understanding why it’s important to show impact. Supporting basic reporting tasks.
- Organisation & Time Management - Keeping tasks organised and meeting deadlines. Managing own workload with support.
Desirable Skills
- Previous voluntary, community, or customer-facing experience.
- Relevant qualification or training (or working towards one).
- Knowledge of local communities or regeneration activity.
