Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: LOAF CATERING A Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of a busy kitchen. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, ensuring kitchen equipment is ready for use, and assisting chefs and kitchen staff with basic tasks as required. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position essential to the overall success of the kitchen team.
Responsibilities
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment to required hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas including floors, walls, and surfaces.
- Empty bins, manage recycling, and dispose of waste correctly.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are used safely and stored appropriately.
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation (e.g., peeling, chopping, portioning) where required.
- Restock and organise ingredients, cleaning supplies, and kitchen equipment.
- Load/unload deliveries and ensure stock is rotated using FIFO principles.
- Keep the dishwashing and storage areas tidy and organised.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment faults promptly.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- No formal qualifications required (training provided).
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.
- Good communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
