Job description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation in a fast -paced kitchen environment within a 48 bedded nursing home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety, with experience working in a busy kitchen setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes according to recipes and menu specifications
- Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and taste
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor ingredient stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service periods
- Adhere to food safety standards and procedures at all times
- Assist in menu planning and preparation of menus, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and preferences
- A passion for cooking and creating new dishes, along with the ability to work well as part of a team Familiarity with serving procedures and maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a catering environment
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety regulations
- Experience with meal preparation for large groups is desirable
