Hate Crime Advocate
Job description
Hate Crime Advocate FTC Maternity Cover The role holder will manage a caseload providing hate crime advocacy support to victims hate crime, primarily disability but may include other protected characteristics, from moment of referral to completion of Police, PPS, and/or Courts process, complementing existing services provided by Victim Support NI and help ensure that victims’ individual needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an understanding of the social, legal, and regulatory context and needs of user group in and around the advocacy area.
- Organise and attend the Disability Hate Crime Forum on a regular basis including taking note of stakeholder concerns and identified trends affecting people with disabilities.
- Attend regular monitoring and review meetings to review referrals received by the respective agencies, discuss victim needs and monitor progress in meeting these needs.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Achieved A level standard or above with a minimum 2 years' experience advocating on behalf of individuals with complex needs.
- Or: a minimum of 5 years' experience advocating on behalf of individuals with complex needs.
- Demonstrable understanding of the key issues affecting victims of different types of hate crimes including knowledge of current legislation regarding hate crimes.
