Climate Resilience and Engagement Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: ARDS AND NORTH DOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL This role will support the delivery of community engagement activities related to climate resilience, including helping set up and run pop-up events, gathering feedback from the public, and assisting with the creation of simple social media content. Applicants must be comfortable with occasional travel, which may be required to support and deliver outreach programmes.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of climate resilience community engagement activities, helping to plan, set up and facilitate pop-up events at local venues.
- Gathering feedback from the public using simple conversation kits (survey boards, QR links, weather preparedness tips).
- Assisting with the development of basic social media content on local resilience themes.
- Helping coordinate the logistics for youth and over-50s climate panel sessions (e.g., arranging venues, preparing materials, note-taking).
- Drafting short, community-friendly briefs on resilience themes related to climate change.
- Collating and summarizing feedback into a monthly insight note for the Climate Resilient Communities Workstream.
- Assist with the development and distribution of educational materials - flyers, newsletters and social media content.
- Prepare presentations, reports and meeting materials.
- Provide administrative supports such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence and maintaining records.
- Willingness to work with the public and as part of a team.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Basic IT skills (e.g., using email, Word, social media).
- Good organisational skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience volunteering or participating in community/ environmental projects.
- Ability to travel to different community venues (if required).
- Interest in climate change, climate resilience, and community engagement, or local government.
