Warehouse and Delivery Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: DALZELLS OF MARKETHILL Support daily warehouse operations and timely customer deliveries for Dalzells of Markethill. Receive, check, store, and prepare home appliances for dispatch, maintaining accuracy and care. Assist with loading and safe installation basics when required. Provide professional service, uphold health and safety standards, and help keep the warehouse organised, clean, and efficient at times, supporting performance and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Check goods in and out of stock using an app-based stock management system.
- Pick and prepare orders from sales team picking lists.
- Carry out general warehouse duties, including housekeeping, space management, and health & safety compliance.
- Assist drivers with deliveries of home appliances across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- Support the disconnection and connection of freestanding electrical appliances.
- Provide professional, customer-focused service during deliveries and installations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and installations.
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and minor appliance repairs when required.
- Inspect, prepare, and secure delivery vehicles before and after routes.
- Follow planned delivery routes and adhere to time schedules.
- Ensure warehouse and work areas remain clean, organised, and safe at all times.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- The ability to manage stock accurately using app-based systems.
- Ability to safely load, unload, and handle large home appliances.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and health & safety practices.
- Basic technical aptitude to assist with the disconnection, connection, and simple troubleshooting of appliances (training provided).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a delivery and warehouse team.
- Ability to check stock, deliveries, and installation records.
Desirable Skills
- Drivers Licence.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or stock management environment.
- Knowledge of freestanding electrical appliances and basic installation procedures.
- Ability to use handheld devices or apps for stock and delivery management.
- Customer service experience in a retail or delivery setting.
- Basic mechanical or DIY skills for minor appliance adjustments.
- Teamwork and the ability to support colleagues in a busy environment.
- Familiarity with Northern Ireland roads and delivery routes.
- Willingness to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
