WHSCT Clinical Nurse Specialist for Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer Band 7
Job description
Altnagelvin Hospital. In order to meet the overall mission of the organisation the post holder will: Lead the implementation of AYA services (16-24 years) across Western Trust working in collaboration/liaison with Cancer Unit and Regional Cancer Centre AYA service, Belfast ensuring all patients receive age appropriate, high quality clinical care. Act as a source of advice and expertise providing a comprehensive specialist role for AYAs with cancer within the nominated geographical area. Support the tumour specific CNS in the key worker function and where the patient does not have a Clinical Nurse Specialist act as a Key Worker. Work closely with the regional AYA Cancer Service Team and the site specific Multidisciplinary Teams locally and at the Regional Cancer Centre to ensure alignment of goals and priorities between national and local modernisation initiatives relevant to TYA Cancer Services. Lead change in clinical practice across (insert Trust) for the benefit of the AYA with cancer to include their carer, multi-disciplinary clinical teams in primary, secondary and tertiary care. Ensure (insert Trust) are supported in the adherence and compliance of NICE Guidance on Cancer Services, Improving Outcomes in Children and Young People with Cancer. The Regional Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service Team consist of AYA Lead Nurse, AYA CNSs within the cancer units and RBHSC, Young People Social Workers, Ward Support Specialist and Young People Community Worker. The AYA Lead Nurse based at BHSCT will offer support, leadership and guidance to the cancer unit AYA CNSs in NHSCT, WHSCT SEHSCT, SHSCT and Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
