THE EMPLOYER IS: MISFIT HOBBIES LTD Misfit Hobbies is looking for a Customer Service Assistants to support the day-to-day running of our hobby and games store. This is a customer-facing role focused on creating a welcoming, helpful, and enjoyable experience for everyone who visits the shop. You will welcome customers into the store, engage with them in a friendly and approachable way, and help them find products such as board games, tabletop role-playing games, and hobby supplies. You will assist with basic product queries and introduce customers to our in-store activities and events. You will support stock management by restocking shelves, keeping displays tidy and well presented, and helping with basic inventory checks. You will also assist with operating the till under supervision, handling card and cash payments, and following standard retail procedures. You will help maintain a clean, organised, and safe shop floor and may support in-store events when required. This is a customer-facing role based primarily on the shop floor. Some evening and weekend work will be required in line with store opening hours and events.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming customers into the store and providing a friendly, helpful, and professional service.
- Engaging with customers to understand their needs and recommending suitable games, hobby products, and supplies.
- Responding to basic product enquiries and signposting customers to in-store events and activities.
- Maintaining high standards of presentation by restocking shelves and keeping displays tidy and well organised.
- Assisting with basic stock checks and supporting inventory management.
- Operating the till under supervision, including processing cash and card payments accurately.
- Following company procedures for cash handling, security, and customer service.
- Keeping the shop floor clean, safe, and organised at all times.
- Supporting in-store events, workshops, and community activities when required.
- Working effectively as part of a small team and communicating clearly with colleagues.
- Developing and applying core workplace skills including time management, reliability, and professionalism.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a small team.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling payments and transactions.
Desirable Skills
- An interest in tabletop gaming, including miniature wargames, trading card games, board games, or roleplaying games.
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a customer-facing role.
- Confidence in recommending products and engaging customers in conversation.
- Experience supporting events, workshops, or community activities.
- Familiarity with social media or promoting in-store activities (advantageous but not essential).
- Willingness to develop product knowledge and stay up to date with new releases and events.
