Health & Safety Officer


Job description

The post holder will assist the health & safety manager in the delivery of a comprehensive range of health and safety services to the Inspire Group. The health and safety officer will be central to continuous improvements and also help drive forward strategies and policies that facilitate the Group’s health and safety strategy and aims and objectives. To achieve this, the health and safety officer will support the health and safety manager in their role as the organisation’s lead competent person for health and safety, ensuring that the Group remains legally compliant. They will be expected to work proactively with managers to establish and maintain safe systems of work and promote a positive safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health and safety policy is implemented consistently across the Group
  • Assist in the monitoring, evaluation and review of the health and safety policy and practice, making recommendations and implementing the necessary documentation as required
  • Identify areas where training / certification is required to meet the standards imposed by legislation, Approved Codes of Practice or HSE guidance, in both Northern Ireland and Ireland
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the Group
  • Assist in the identification of health and safety training needs, develop, and deliver training as required

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A full, current driving licence and access to a car. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence. Business Insurance is a requirement for this role
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable as the role will involve working at various locations throughout Ireland
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and 1 year's experience in a Health & Safety role OR
  • 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety role
  • Current knowledge of health & safety regulations
  • Experience of communicating effectively at all levels within an organisation
  • Experience of managing compliance, audits and risk assessments
  • Experience of designing and delivering training programmes
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
