Marketing Director (Fractional)
Job description
Bia Analytical is seeking an experienced Marketing Director to enhance and amplify Bia Analytical’s position as a recognised authority in food authenticity and integrity. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a fractional, senior leadership role suited to a strategic marketer who excels at elevating credible expertise, shaping industry narratives, and translating complex science into trusted market leadership.
Responsibilities
- Thought Leadership & Credibility Building - Guide the creation of high-value thought leadership assets (e.g. insight papers, case studies, original research) that enhance Bia Analytical’s authority in food authenticity and risk-based testing.
- Support external positioning through conferences, industry forums, strategic partnerships, and other profile-raising opportunities.
- Strategic Leadership & Market Discovery - Lead structured market discovery for the Risk Dashboard, applying the MIT Disciplined Entrepreneurship framework to define target customers, priority use cases, and value propositions.
- Design and oversee qualitative and quantitative market research to validate customer needs, buying triggers, and willingness to pay.
- Translate complex scientific and technical capability into clear, differentiated customer value.
- Product Marketing & Positioning - Define and refine positioning, messaging, and narratives across Bia Analytical’s portfolio, with primary focus on the Risk Dashboard, and oversight of REIMS and Bespoke analytical services.
- Ensure clear differentiation between offerings while maintaining a coherent and credible Bia story.
- Inform product roadmap and prioritisation decisions through evidence-led market insight.
- Go-to-Market Strategy - Develop phased go-to-market strategies aligned to product maturity and market readiness.
- Work closely with Sales and Product to ensure alignment between discovery, product development, and commercialisation.
- Shape launch approaches, pilot programmes, and early adopter strategies, particularly for the Risk Dashboard.
- Performance & Decision Support - Define success metrics appropriate to early-stage and evolving products, focusing on learning, engagement quality, and commercial signals rather than volume-based marketing metrics alone.
- Provide regular strategic insight to the CEO and leadership team to inform investment, prioritisation, and growth decisions.
- Stakeholder Collaboration - Act as a senior marketing partner to leadership, science, product, and sales teams.
- Bring an external perspective, challenge assumptions constructively, and support confident, evidence-based decision-making.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Senior marketing leadership experience (Director / Head of Marketing / Fractional CMO), ideally in B2B, data, SaaS, technical or scientific environments.
- Strong experience with early-stage or new product commercialisation, particularly where customer discovery is still evolving.
- Practical understanding of (or strong alignment with) the MIT Disciplined Entrepreneurship framework.
- Proven ability to turn complex technical or scientific concepts into compelling, credible commercial narratives.
- Strategic thinker who is comfortable operating without full information and bringing structure to ambiguity.
- Confident senior partner to founders and executive teams.
- Experience in food, agriculture, supply chain risk, analytics, or regulated industries is advantageous but not essential.
Further Information
Role Structure: Fractional role (expected commitment to be agreed upon a minimum of 30 hrs). Flexible, outcomes-focused engagement. Opportunity to shape a critical pillar of Bia Analytical’s future growth. Bia Analytical already has a strong and credible profile, underpinned by deep scientific expertise and real-world impact. This role is about making that authority more visible, more coherent, and more influential across global food supply chains, ensuring that Bia Analytical’s voice is consistently heard, understood, and trusted by industry, regulators, and customers. Alongside this overarching mandate, the role will support the positioning and commercialisation of emerging products, most notably the Risk Dashboard, ensuring they are clearly framed within Bia Analytical’s wider leadership in food authenticity and risk-based testing. At Bia Analytical, we combine cutting-edge science, data, and integrity to tackle real-world problems in global food supply chains. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence not just how we market, but what we prioritise, how we position it, and how we grow. You’ll be joining at a point where your insight and leadership can materially shape product success, not just amplify it.
