Trainee Transport Planner


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: HAMILTON ROAD FREIGHT LTD The Trainee Transport manager will support the transport planning team with the day to day organisation of vehicle movements and deliveries. This is an entry-level role designed to provide training and hands-on experience in transport planning, logistics and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning daily transport routes and delivery schedules.
  • Support the co-ordination of drivers, vehicles and loads.
  • Update transport schedules and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding routes, times and instructions.
  • Help monitor delivery progress and report any delays or issues.
  • Input data into transport and planning systems.
  • Assist with basic compliance checks such as driver hours and vehicle records.
  • Provide general administrative support to the transport team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Basic IT skills (eg: email and spreadsheets).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Interest in logistics, transport or planning.
