Facilities Support Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: RATHFRILAND FOOTBALL CLUB Location: Rathfriland FC, Iveagh Park Road Rathfriland Co Down The Facilities Support Assistant will support the day-to-day upkeep and safe operation of Rathfriland FC’s facilities. This is an entry-level role designed to provide practical work experience, employability skills, and on-the-job training within a community sports environment. The role will be fully supervised and supported, with training provided where required. Duties are additional to existing staff and volunteer roles and are intended to enhance the participant’s employability at the end of the JobStart placement.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with basic maintenance and minor repairs around the football ground, clubhouse, and changing facilities.
- Supporting pitch-side and grounds maintenance tasks, including setting up and putting away equipment.
- Preparing facilities for training sessions, matches, and community events.
- Carrying out routine checks to help maintain a safe, clean, and tidy environment.
- Supporting matchday operations, including set-up and clear-down.
- Assisting senior volunteers or supervisors with general facilities tasks.
- Following health and safety guidance and reporting any hazards or defects.
- Developing practical workplace skills including time-keeping, teamwork, and communication.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic awareness of health and safety (training will be provided).
Desirable Skills
- An interest in sport, facilities, or grounds maintenance.
- Some experience of using basic hand tools (not essential).
- Good communication skills when working with volunteers and the public.
- Interest in practical, hands-on work.
