The Whistlestop Randalstown Offering short breaks for children and young people with disabilities within the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Work closely with your colleagues to provide excellent care and support to all children and young people coming to the home for short breaks. Responsibilities
- Work closely with your colleagues to provide excellent care and support to all children and young people coming to the home for short breaks.
- To work with children, young people and their families, on a one to one or group basis, using a variety of interventions, to identify needs and to achieve positive outcomes.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers to empower them and to enable them to achieve better outcomes for their children.
- Work co-operatively with children’s services, health agencies and other community based services, to provide the most effective service for children young people and families.
- Apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Experience of working with children and young people (does not have to be gained in a formal employment setting).
- Experience of keeping records/daily notes or contributing to reports.
- Experience of working within safeguarding policy and procedures.
- A valid driving licence or alternatively be able to demonstrate how you can meet the mobility requirements of the post.
Desirable Skills
- Level 3 qualification or above in a childcare/healthcare/social science related subject.
- Experience of working with children and young people living with a disability.
Further Information
Location: Arches Association, Arches Lane, Main Street, Randalstown. Salary: £26,142.40 - £29,463.72 per annum pro rata. Work Time: We are offering permanent positions in the service, which are predominantly 30 hours per week. The hours will be worked as part of a rota, ensuring cover within the home from Wednesday to Monday. Shift patterns will be outlined on an 8 to 12 week basis and will include sleep in and waking night shifts. Applications for As and When contracts, annualised hours or part time hours will also be considered.
