THE EMPLOYER IS: GLENTORAN FOOTBALL CLUB The Catering Assistant will support the catering provision for the First Team, helping to ensure players and staff are provided with appropriate meals and refreshments in a safe, clean, and professional environment. This role offers practical, hands-on experience in food preparation, hygiene, and workplace organisation within a professional sporting setting. This role will help develop food hygiene and food safety awareness, as well as teamwork and communication skills within a professional environment. The postholder will also improve time management and organisational skills and gain an understanding of how catering operations function within a professional sporting organisation. The postholder will assist with basic food preparation and service for First Team players and staff, supporting catering requirements on both training days and matchdays. They will work alongside catering staff to help with set-up before service and clean up after, ensuring food and refreshment areas are prepared to a high standard. The hours of work are flexible 6 days a week including some Saturdays. Hours of work are also open to change with notice given.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and service areas.
  • Following food safety and health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Assisting with stock control.
  • Assisting with basic kitchen organisation.
  • Cleaning catering areas after every service.
  • Carrying out weekly deep cleaning tasks as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food-related role.
  • Basic food preparation knowledge.
  • Food hygiene certification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • An interest in catering or hospitality as a career pathway.
  • Experience working in a sporting or event environment.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Basic understanding of cleanliness and hygiene, or a willingness to learn food safety procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good timekeeping skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional approach to work.

Location: The BetMcLean Oval. The Employer is: GLENTORAN FOOTBALL CLUB. JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
