Community Charity Shop Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: SOMETHING MORE FOR YOU LTD The Community Charity Shop Assistant supports the day-to-day running of the shop while promoting a friendly, welcoming environment for all customers and donors. This position plays an important part in helping the charity raise funds and deliver positive impact within the community.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out daily shop and sorting room tasks efficiently and safely.
- Providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Handling stock, donations and shop equipment responsibly.
- Following health, safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Working cooperatively with staff and volunteers.
- Representing the values and aims of Something More for You Ltd charity.
- Maintaining confidentiality and respecting customers and donors.
- Helping to prepare small snacks and tea/coffee in our kitchen for customers.
- Maintain hygiene in the kitchen.
- Using till, processing payments, giving change, and following basic financial procedures.
- Pricing items correctly.
- Engage with and assist customers.
- Sorting donations, organizing displays, and restocking shelves.
- Help to prepare snacks and refreshments for customers.
- Keep the shop clean and tidy.
- There will be a varied amount of manual handling and physical activity required within the day-to-day duties.
- Ensure that everyone feels welcome.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work safely and follow Health & Safety guidance.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in retail, charity shops or customer service.
- Confidence speaking with members of the public.
- Interest in community or voluntary work.
- Basic cash handling or till experience.
- An interest in developing employability and workplace skills.

The Employer is: SOMETHING MORE FOR YOU LTD JobStart Opportunity - Working Hours Information. Standard Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
