Facilities Officer


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: NICSSA Manage and monitor NICSSA’s facilities to ensure they are upheld to a high standard and comply fully with all statutory regulations (e.g. for health and safety). Manage all essential, health and safety and statutory maintenance, including repairs or modifications that are required for each of the premises. Be responsible for compliance on all Health and Safety requirements including all equipment testing and system monitoring at the Complex, and be responsible for the security of each of NICSSA’s facilities. Ensure all NICSSA owned vehicles are maintained to a good standard.

Responsibilities

  • Calculating and comparing costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders in relation to NICSSA buildings.
  • Directing and planning essential services such as security, maintenance, cleaning, waste disposal and recycling.
  • Ensuring the building meets health and safety requirements.
  • Checking that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and following up on any deficiencies.
  • Coordinating and leading one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility.
  • Using performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement.
  • Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise.

Essential Skills

  • Organisation and systematic thinking.
  • Strong numeracy and the ability to understand financial data.
  • Research skills and analytical skills with the ability to draw information from various sources, including people.
  • IT skills.
  • Well developed communication skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely as well as the ability to handle long and complex documents.
  • Interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Spatial awareness and the ability to work with diagrams.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work on more than one task at a time.
