Maintenance Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: BEECH HILL COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL LTD The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the upkeep, repair, and preventative maintenance of Beech Hill Country House to ensure the property remains safe, compliant, and presented to the highest hospitality standards. This role involves carrying out day-to-day maintenance tasks, assisting with planned preventative maintenance, and ensuring minimal disruption to guests while maintaining a safe working environment. This role will be given H&S training and in role learning opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Minor plumbing repairs (leaks, taps, toilets).
- Basic electrical tasks (changing fittings, lamps, sockets where permitted).
- Basic joinery (doors, handles, locks, minor furniture repairs).
- Perform painting, decorating, and minor plaster repairs.
- Assemble, repair, and maintain furniture and fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues reported by staff or guests.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard with attention to presentation.
- Conduct regular inspections of: Guest bedrooms, public areas, back-of-house areas and external grounds and facilities.
- Identify maintenance issues before they escalate.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with schedules and checklists.
- Learn to log, prioritise, and track maintenance issues effectively.
- Assist in maintaining equipment servicing records where required.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Basic knowledge of general building maintenance.
- Ability to carry out basic maintenance repairs.
- Practical, hands-on approach with problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexibly.
Desirable Skills
- Basic electrical or maintenance qualifications.
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems.
