Family Support Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: AN DROICHEAD The Family Support worker will provide practical & emotional support to children, young people and families within the local community, to promote wellbeing, resilience, and positive family relationships. All Applicants will be subject to Access NI Enhanced DBS Police Check, Social services Vetting Check and a GP Medical Check to ensure suitability for the post. Only after all of the above is satisfactory will this post be secured.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the delivery of family-based programmes and activities, offering one to one, group-based support under the guidance of Senior staff.
- Signposting families to appropriate services.
- Assisting with outreach and engagement.
- Work closely with families, community partners and statutory services.
- Maintain appropriate records and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive environment in line with safeguarding and organisational policies.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Good understanding and spoken Irish Language.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Cultural awareness.
- Ability to build strong & trusting relationships.
- Ability to identify families’ vulnerabilities, strengths and needs.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a similar role.
- Full driving License and access to a car.
