Service Engineer
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: QLC SOLUTIONS LTD We are looking for reliable Printer Service Engineer to join our team. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing printers and multifunction devices, diagnosing technical faults, and providing excellent customer support. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, a technical mindset, and the ability to work independently while delivering high-quality service.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission printers and multifunction devices.
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software faults on-site and remotely.
- Carry out routine maintenance and preventative servicing.
- Respond to service calls and resolve issues within agreed timeframes.
- Replace parts such as rollers, fusers, drums, and toner systems.
- Maintain accurate service records and complete job reports.
- Provide technical support and basic user training to customers.
- Ensure devices are connected to networks and operating efficiently.
- Monitor device performance and recommend upgrades or improvements.
- Follow health & safety procedures while working at customer site.
- Maintain company tools, equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Strong technical troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to learn servicing printers, photocopiers, or multifunction device.
- Good mechanical and electrical diagnostic ability.
- Basic IT and networking knowledge (drivers, IP setup, connectivity issues).
- Ability to work independently in a field-based role.
- Customer service and communication skills.
- Strong time management and ability to prioritise service calls.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals and service documentation.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with major brands (e.g. Konica Minolta, Canon, Ricoh, Sharp, Kyocera).
- Knowledge of print management software (e.g. Papercut, SafeQ, uniFLOW).
- Understanding of network printing environments and basic server setup.
- Experience installing and supporting scan-to-email / scan-to-folder workflows.
- Manufacturer certifications or technical training courses.
- Experience with colour calibration and print quality optimisation.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server / Active Directory environments.
- Previous field service or customer-facing engineering experience.
- Ability to provide user training and basic device demonstrations.
- Experience maintaining service records using CRM or ticketing system.
