Welder
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: NORTH COAST STEEL The Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components in a workshop environment. Key duties include interpreting technical drawings and specifications, measuring and cutting steel materials using saws and other cutting equipment. The role will involve preparing and aligning components for welding, performing various welding techniques to join metal parts, inspecting completed welds to ensure structural integrity and quality standards, and maintaining workshop tools and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
- Measure, mark, and cut steel and other metal materials accurately using saws and cutting equipment.
- Prepare, position, and align components prior to welding.
- Perform welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) to fabricate and assemble metal components.
- Ensure welds meet structural integrity, quality, and dimensional standards.
- Inspect finished products and identify defects or inconsistencies.
- Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic maintenance and care of welding and workshop equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Essential Skills
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques and metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and safe work practices.
- Ability to use measuring tools and equipment accurately.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work in a workshop environment.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to identify fabrication issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Time management skills to meet production deadlines.
