Job description

A childcare practitioner/ nursery assistant is required to provide high quality care and early learning experiences for children from 0 -12 years. This includes ensuring their safety, well being and developmental needs are met in line with the minimum standards set by the Department of Health.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, nurturing care
• Support learning through planned activities
• Observe and record development
• Maintain a clean safe environment
• Follow safeguarding and health policies
• Build positive relationships with children and families
• Administer basic first aid
• Adhere to all health and safety policies, including risk assessments and infection control procedures
• Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing daily feedback and updates
• Work collaboratively with the team to ensure consistency and high standards
• Attend staff meetings, training and professional development sessions

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Hold NVQ Level 2/3 Childcare, learning and development or equivalent
• Experience in early years setting

Desirable Skills

• A qualification or experience in safeguarding and paediatric first aid
