Trainee Plumber
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: JOE HUNTER AND SONS LTD The Trainee Plumber will assist with the repair, maintenance and installation of plumbing systems in domestic and commercial sites, as required by the business. You will learn all the basic aspects of plumbing, mainly within private residential homes but also to some commercial customers. Under qualified supervision, you will learn to install, maintain and repair water, heating and drainage systems.
Responsibilities
- Use your plumbing skills to assist with a wide range of work from a pre-allocated appointment system.
- Assist with installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing systems including bathrooms, heating systems, water supply and drainage.
- Reading blueprints and drawings to understand and assist with planning the layout of plumbing, waste disposal and water supply systems.
- Set up and maintain tools for both your own use and for colleagues.
- Use a Press Gun for pipe work.
- Fault finding and diagnosis tasks.
- Liaise with customers to undertake work in their properties in a timely and convenient manner.
- Ensure that the company vehicle is stocked correctly.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Basic IT skills, namely using a tablet for work orders.
- Good communication skills.
- Problem solving with strong critical thinking skills for diagnosing and fixing plumbing issues.
- Basic numeracy skills.
