Job description

A Packing Plant Craftsperson is responsible for maintaining, repairing and optimising packing plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient and continuous operations. They carry out both mechanical and electrical maintenance, including inspections, fault finding, servicing and breakdown repairs on machinery and associated plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Planning and scheduling maintenance routines (mechanical & electrical)
• Carrying out plant inspections (mechanical & electrical)
• Fault diagnosing and breakdown support
• Working with Electrical & Mechanical Departments to ensure maximum reliability and production

Essential Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Excellent timekeeping skills
• Able to work on your own initiative
• Flexible, self-motivated and have a positive attitude in their approach to work
• Willing to work shifts / extra hours if required
• Have strong analytical skills supporting fast and effective problem solving
• Knowledge and experience working on mechanical / electrical equipment
• Capable of effective prioritisation of tasks and personal time management
• Able to work unsupervised and prioritise their time and activities.

Desirable Skills

• Time served mechanical / electrical craftsman, (indentured or possessing NVQ level 3) with at least 3 years post apprenticeship experience time-served mechanical / electrical craft
• GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths and English
