The post holder is accountable for the endoscopy department and will: - promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient/client experience, provide effective leadership and management. - contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives. Responsibilities

• Adhere to DHSSPS and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example, safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products.
• Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Ensure that organisational goals are reflected in own and the nursing teams’ objectives and in the endoscopy department plans.
• Contribute to the development of the Trust’s policies and strategies, where appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the live NMC Register.
• Have 5 years’ post-registration experience which must include a minimum of 2 years’ at Band 6 in an endoscopy unit setting with experience of managing an endoscopy team & be competent in the core procedures. OR
• OR Have 5 years’ post-registration experience which must include a minimum of 3 years’ at Band 5 in an endoscopy unit setting with experience of managing an endoscopy team & be competent in the core procedures.
• Provide evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
• Have sound knowledge of an endoscopy service and demonstrate awareness of the challenges to both staff and endoscopy services in the current climate.

Desirable Skills

• Successfully completed a post registration qualification in Endoscopy procedures and clinical provision.
• Successfully completed a post registration management programme.
