Job description
Thank you for your interest in the Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer post within Property Services Division of Construction & Procurement Delivery (CPD), a business area within the Department of Finance (DoF). Property Services Division (PSD) provides hard facilities Management & Property Maintenance services, through a range of professional and technical services, to a broad range of NICS and wider public sector clients. As the Principal Electrical Building Services Engineer you will play a major role in ensuring that high quality planned projects are delivered and best value is achieved. You will lead a team of construction professionals from a range of disciplines delivering construction projects alongside a team delivering advice and support on Fire Safety matters and Supplies and Stores. This is an exciting time to be a leader in the delivery of construction projects within the public sector. In this role you will report to a Deputy Director (Grade 6) in the provision of various aspects of project delivery and advice to Government Departments, Agencies and the wider public sector. Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will report to a Deputy Director (G6) in the provision of various aspects of Planned preventative maintenance and remedials works to Government Departments, Agencies and the wider public sector.
- Leading and managing all staff and business activities within the multidisciplinary team, with responsibility for making key decisions on team workload, staff resources and the delegation of works.
- Leading and managing the provision of advice pertaining to the services delivered by the multidisciplinary team to Northern Ireland Departments, their Agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies.
- Leading and managing the monitoring and reporting on contract Key Performance Indicators.
- Acting as the lead PSD officer in relation to matters pertaining to electrical engineering.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must, by the closing date for applications be a current Chartered Electrical Engineer. (Please see the Candidate Information Booklet for further information)
- Have at least 3 years' experience in the design and delivery of electrical services within buildings with a total aggregate value of at least £1M per annum. (Please see the Candidate Information Booklet for further information)
- Have at least 3 years' experience of successfully leading a team in the construction sector.
Desirable Skills
- Applicants should be aware that if, following an eligibility sift, it should be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview
- The panel will carry out an objective evaluation of the information provided by candidates in response to eligibility criterion 2. This will be completed on a scored basis and only the highest scoring applicants will proceed to interview.
