Shopmobility Foyle is a project managed by Bridge Accessible Transport. We are a local charity seeking a caring and reliable person to support our Shopmobility Service, helping people with reduced mobility stay independent and active in their community. The role involves managing daily Shopmobility operations and delivering and collecting mobility equipment to and from members homes or shopping venues using our accessible vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the daily management of Shopmobility Foyle with a particular emphasis on the efficient promotion of services, the Health and Safety of members and equipment belonging to the scheme.
  • Responsibility for the transporting of equipment to members using our accessible vehicle.
  • The coordinator will be responsible for working closely with the Transport Manager for the on-going strategic development of the service and collating project statistics for stakeholders.
  • Act as the projects principal representative, establishing effective communication, public relations and media profile and build relationships with key individuals and related service providers.
  • Support members of the public who wish to join the scheme and provide in-house training on the safe use of equipment.
  • Manage Shopmobility finances and ensure necessary resources are available for planned activities.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in accordance with the manufacturers' instructions and in-house policy.
  • Ensure that regular equipment inspections including bodywork, tyres, lights, batteries etc are carried out in accordance with in-house policy.
  • Assist and participate in the generation of resources and work with funding bodies as necessary and complete returns as required.
  • Maintain our filing systems and databases as appropriate.
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly statistics are gathered, monitored, evaluated and communicated to the Transport Manager and funding bodies.
  • To perform any other relevant duties as may be required from time to time by the Manager.
  • To undertake any training as required.
  • To conduct assessment of new customers ensuring that the appropriate mobility aid is provided.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Three years experience working within a professional office environment with particular emphasis on planning, financial management, and a high level of organisational skills.
  • Proven experience of networking with a range of individuals, organisations and agencies on a one to one or partnership basis.
  • Proven track record of developing strategic plans and implementing same.
  • Strong degree of communication skills both oral and written.
  • Proficient in the use of a range of computer software packages.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Experience of customer interaction by phone and face to face.
  • Awareness of and ability to understand the needs of vulnerable people.
  • Good organisational skills and a commitment to Health and Safety.
  • Ability to communicate well with our members and the general public.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience and co-ordination skills, organisation and development.
  • A developed understanding of issues facing older people and people with mobility problems.
  • Knowledge of and empathy with our project aims and objectives.
  • Flexible approach and willingness to multi-task
  • Ability to work alone and within a team and display the skills of leadership, delegation and responsibility.
  • Desire to learn new skills as may be required.
  • Understanding of the importance of effective customer care and teamwork.
  • Working with children and / or vulnerable adults

Shopmobility Foyle Service Coordinator. Location: 18 Balliniska Road, Springtown Industrial Estate. Aims and Objectives of the service. To improve accessibility and inclusion for individuals with mobility challenges, enabling them to access health appointments, social events, hospital and clinic visits, shopping, and other retail environments more easily. Our outputs will include: Improved Health and Well-being: Supporting people to engage with our Shopmobility service to participate in the community which will have a positive effect on mental and physical health. Educational and Awareness: Continue to raise awareness about the needs of people with disabilities, which can promote better understanding and more inclusive attitudes within communities and the public about the importance and availability of our Shopmobility services. Increased Accessibility: Ensuring that members can access citywide locations independently by providing mobility equipment hires such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Enhanced Independence: Support everyday activities without the need for assistance improving overall quality of life. Supporting members to navigate public spaces and the city centre with ease. Social Inclusion: Offering services to members with physical and or sensory difficulties who might otherwise be excluded from public life. We will promote equality by supporting members to participate in community life, meeting friends, attending local events, shopping trips, access healthcare appointments though our hire service.
