Job description
Officers successful in this competition at Graduate Trainee Valuer grade will be members of a team in one of our Regional Valuation offices. They will undertake rating assessments on both domestic and non-domestic properties ensuring that ratepayers, District Councils and other stakeholders are provided with a professional service. They may also contribute to other client casework, for example, providing a valuation service to our public sector clients such as the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Government Departments or negotiating compensation following a compulsory acquisition. Responsibilities
- A Graduate Trainee Valuer is responsible for a variety of the following activities: Inspection of property and data collection; Carrying out basic valuations for rating and other purposes, as well as assisting more senior staff;
- Communication with a wide range of clients e.g. public sector bodies and the general public; Research, analysis and selection of information appropriate to property valuation;
- Report writing to a professional standard; Commitment to in house and personal study to achieve the RICS professional qualification;
- Maintaining file records and computer databases to required standards, verifying the completeness of information and maintaining data quality.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Possess a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BA - BSc Honours degree in a real estate or other property related discipline. Please see page 12 of the Candidate Information Booklet (CIB) for more details.
- OR Be students completing a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BA- BSc Honours Degree in the 2025-26 academic year. Please see page 12 of the Candidate Information Booklet (CIB) for further details.
- AND Hold a full driving licence valid for driving in Northern Ireland and have access to a form of transport (i.e. Car, Motorcycle) to meet the requirements of the post.
