Job description

Assist the Manager in the 24-hour, day to day management of the Service including Out of Hours On Call in accordance with Manor Healthcare’s Policy & Procedures. Assist the Manager with the completion and review of Assessments, Person Centred Plans and the implementation of Individual Care / Support Plans and associated Risk Assessments. Carry out investigations relating to the quality of services and use findings to make improvements. Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure the safe delivery of the service Assist with the recruitment, induction and training of senior and support staff. Assist the Manager in implementing company policy and procedures in relation to managing absence, authorising leave, disciplinary, capability and grievance matters. Assist the Manager to provide information, guidance and on-going supervision to enable staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles. Assist in carrying out appraisals and monitoring of staff performance. Assist the Manager to ensure all emergency on-call issues are dealt with effectively, such as covering calls either directly or indirectly when care workers are sick or absent. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of care and services in line with legislative requirements, RQIA standards and guidelines and company policy and procedures.
  • Assist with the effective and efficient management of resources.
  • Monitor and report on Quality and Performance matters.
  • Undertake training and development to keep up to date with best practice, changes and new initiatives.
  • Apply this knowledge to day to day management and delivery of care and services.
  • Promote the individual rights of service users at all times based on dignity and respect and a person centred ethos.
  • Provide a supportive, caring and stimulating environment for the service users, which offers choice and enables each service user to maximise their potential.
  • Provide the service users and where appropriate their families or representatives, with information about the service so that they are clear about what to expect and how they raise any concerns.
  • Maintain full and accurate records and reporting systems in accordance with legal requirement and to ensure the effective running of services.
  • Understand and monitor health and safety in the workplace.
  • Assist the Manager to implement quality management and improvement systems.
  • Effectively manage complaints and incidents.
  • Ensuring standards of care, support and supervision are appropriate to meet Service User’s needs.
  • Liaise with Line Manager and representative Trust as appropriate.
  • Assist the Manager with carrying out regular financial audits of the Service User’s finances and ensure records are maintained in accordance with RQIA standards, referring Trust and Manor Healthcare financial governance policy and procedures.
  • Facilitate actions arising from RQIA Quality Improvement Plans.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care and three years’ experience working at Senior Support Worker level within a Residential and/or Supported Living Service, Hospital or Day Services for adults with Learning Disabilities.

Desirable Skills

  • Hold a current UK driving licence with access to a form of transport which will facilitate the requirements of the job to include visiting each site.
