THE EMPLOYER IS: BELFAST DISTILLERY COMPANY This position ensures that hospitality and event operations run smoothly through excellent preparation, safe working practices, and strong support across all back of house responsibilities. The participant will build practical skills essential for high quality event and hospitality environments. The Back of House Support Assistant is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of hospitality and event services by maintaining high standards of organisation, safety, hygiene, and preparation. This role focuses on behind the scenes efficiency, ensuring event spaces, service areas, and operational zones are prepared, maintained, and reset in line with established standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • The participant will learn how to prepare and dismantle event spaces efficiently and safely, following event briefs, room layouts, and operational standards.
  • The participant will develop practical knowledge of safe lifting and carrying procedures, in line with health & safety guidelines, for moving furniture, stock, and equipment.
  • The participant will be trained in back-of-house hygiene standards, including dishwasher use, cleaning routines, and kitchen organisation in line with HACCP principles.
  • The role will provide exposure to basic inventory handling, unpacking deliveries, restocking hospitality stations, and monitoring supplies used in day-to-day operations.
  • You will be trained in hospitality and event operations, including setting up service stations, preparing event equipment and consumables, supporting food and beverage service areas during live events.
  • Resetting spaces post-event in line with operational checklists and brand standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Able to safely lift, carry, and move furniture, equipment, and stock.
  • Understand and follow manual handling best practices.
  • Spots issues with stock levels, cleanliness, or equipment before they become problems.
  • Communicate clearly about stock, equipment needs, or operational issues.
  • Understands or is willing to learn HACCP principles.
  • Comfortable with varied shifts, including weekends or event evenings
