Join the public sector in Ballymena as a Cook and support the delivery of high-quality catering services within a customer-focused environment. You will prepare and cook a variety of meals, working independently or as part of a team, ensuring food is safe, nutritious, and delivered to professional standards. About the role: Competitive salary. 30 hours a week. Public sector role. Temporary, ongoing role.

Responsibilities

• To be responsible for preparation, cooking, baking, in all associated areas following the Standardised Recipes , agreed menus and standards.
• To cater for any dietary requirements and special functions as the need may arise.
• To take control of the Catering Department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor.
• To ensure that the food is cooked and stored in hygienic conditions ensuring Safe Food.
• To Assist with Stock Control, and management of Wastage.
• Ensure record keeping of food temperatures, cold rooms and deep freeze units in line with Food Safety.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
• 6 Months Industrial/Commercial cooking to include baking experience.
• Knowledge of general hygiene and safe working practices.
• COSHH Certificate, FIRE Certificate, Manual Handling Certificate , Food Allergens Certificate
• As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake an Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar .to obtaining a position.
