Financial Accountant Part / Fully Qualified


Job description

We are looking for a hands-on Financial Accountant who doesn’t just own the numbers but can also explain the story behind them. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial records while delivering the insights that support real business decisions with this well-established successful company. This is not a passive or supervisory role. You’ll be posting journals, reconciling the balance sheet, managing payroll, and filing returns yourself. If you’re a self-starter who enjoys getting into the detail and seeing the direct impact of your work, this role could be for you. Working closely with the wider finance team and operational managers, this is a significant opportunity for a Part-Qualified or Newly Qualified accountant to step up and take ownership of a full finance function.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Financial Analytics & Reporting Support dashboards and reporting that go beyond the numbers to tell a clear financial story
  • Own the General Ledger & Fixed Assets - full ownership of entries, reconciliations, and schedules
  • Take full responsibility for GL entries, the Fixed Assets Register, balance sheet reconciliations, and lead schedules
  • Manage Weekly Payroll and own end-to-end weekly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery
  • Manage Tax & Compliance Prepare and file VAT and other statutory returns with precision and attention to detail.
  • Support Licensing & Regulatory Compliance
  • Assist with licensing and compliance activities essential to the business
  • Proactively identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and maintain clean reconciliations across all balance sheet items
  • Maintain Rigorous Financial Records
  • Keep accounting documentation, controls, and procedures accurate and up to date
  • Resolve Accounting Issues

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Industry experience working as a newly qualified or part qualified accountant
  • Experience working in industry or commercial sector
  • Part-Qualified or Newly Qualified Accountant - (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong technical foundation and industry experience
  • Excel Power User
  • High proficiency is essential you’re comfortable manipulating data to find answers
  • Highly Organised
  • Able to manage payroll deadlines, tax filings, and month-end reporting without missing a beat
  • Self-motivated working on own initiative

Desirable Skills

  • 3 years accountancy experience in industry
