Creative Production Technician
Job description
To be an active member of the General Assembly’s staff team, contributing to the effective administration of its functions. To provide production support to the Council Secretary, executive staff and Conveners for the delivery of the agreed work programme for the General Council (Communications Department) in a manner in keeping with the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
Responsibilities
- To provide the lead role in supporting the production of work for the Communications Department within the General Council, with direct responsibility to Head of Communications.
- To assist with the technical support and maintenance of the denominational website.
- To assist with managing and uploading of relevant web material under the direction of the Creative Production Officer.
- To advise the Creative Production Officer on web related issues.
- To provide artwork and layout support to the Presbyterian Herald and other publications, including sourcing and editing of imagery, input of text and data, and sub editing duties when required.
- To prepare print ready artwork and to liaise with outside suppliers in relation to production and delivery.
- To process invoices for production work, including the recording of costs incurred.
- To process and record all payments to departmental suppliers and liaise with the Financial Secretary’s Department as appropriate.
- To assist with electronic presentations, the preparation and editing of video and audio, and the distribution of material as appropriate.
- To maintain and organise back-up and archiving of printed and electronic publications.
- To advise the Head of Communications on the updating of office equipment, computer hardware and software, resources and supplies.
- To assist with promotion and marketing of departmental productions.
- To provide research assistance to the Head of Communications.
- To develop, with others in the Communications Department, concepts for departmental productions and initiatives.
- To assist the Head of Communications in the scheduling and organising of production to ensure requirements are met.
- To provide technical and practical creative production support to the meetings of the General Assembly.
- To assist, as required, with general office duties, callers and visitors.
- To order office materials
- To undertake any other relevant duties as may be required.
- To undertake such training as may be required for the efficient performance of the above duties.
- To contribute to the overall organisational effectiveness and to perform any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Head of Communications in line with the requirements of the General Assembly or the Clerk of the General Assembly.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C or equivalent, including English language and Maths.
- Occupationally-related qualification eg graphic design, web design.
- At least 2 years’ recent experience in a relevant creative production role.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (in particular Indesign, Photoshop).
- At least 2 years’ experience working with Microsoft Office suite, (in particular Microsoft Word, Powerpoint or equivalent).
- Experience of using a CMS to update and manage online content.
- Experience of preparing artwork for print.
- Experience in film editing.
- To be willing to commit to working within the Christian ethos of PCI.
- To be available for occasional work outside normal office hours and weekends.

Location: 2-10 Fisherwick Place, Belfast, BT1 6DW. Salary: £30,559 - £35,283 per annum, pro rata. Number of Posts: 1 Hours: 15-22.5 hours per week (2-3 days) (to be discussed at interview) "We are an equal opportunities employer"
