Responsibilities

  • As Driver you will safely transport children to and from the daycare centre, to nursery school/ school, and other scheduled activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Qualifications and Licences Full, clean UK or EU driving licence, appropriate category for the vehicle used Category D1 for minibuses, if applicable.

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • At least 5 year’s driving experience post-licence.
  • Experience of working with, or providing services to, vulnerable groups (e.g., children, older people, adults with disabilities).
  • Knowledge of road safety, Highway Code, and safe transport practices.
  • Ability to plan safe and efficient routes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete basic vehicle checks (oil, tyres, fuel, etc.) and report faults.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Skills

  • Category D1 for minibuses.
  • First Aid certificate.
  • Manual Handling training.
  • Previous employment as a driver in a care, education, or community setting.
  • Experience in assisting passengers with mobility needs.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures in a day care or care setting.

Further Information

Join Early Years the organisation for young children as Driver. Location: Fermanagh Early Years Children and Family Centre, Enniskillen. Hours: 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12:00pm to 3:30pm, term time (45 weeks). Tenure: Permanent. Salary: NJC Scale, Point 3 (£24,027) per annum pro rata. Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Access NI check. Willingness to undertake job related training as required. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Friday 20 March 2026. For shortlisted applicants it is anticipated that interviews will take place Monday 30 March 2026.
