The Assembler is responsible for assembling and testing electro-mechanical subassemblies and systems to ensure all work meets or exceeds performance and quality requirements. Assemblers are expected to come to work prepared, on time and ready to contribute 100% to the team in a safe and conscientious manner.
Responsibilities
- Read work orders and manufacturing standards; follow production drawings and assembly instructions; receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts to form subassemblies or finish products using hand and power tools.
- Position, align and adjust parts for proper fit and assembly and connect cables, tubes/wires.
- Fasten parts together using bolting and riveting equipment or other fastening and joining. techniques.
- Perform other assembly tasks such as cleaning parts and assemblies.
- Operate cranes and forklifts to transport or position larger parts as needed.
- Perform in-process testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards. Inspect assemblies/sub-assemblies for proper quality before proceeding to next step in procedure.
- Detect and report defective materials to the Line Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent with a minimum one years relevant experience.
- Must be mechanically inclined and have an ability to read and understand detailed procedural manuals, blueprints, CAD drawings and diagrams.
- Experience using various hand tool and be able to lift up to 25kg.
- Strong mathematical, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience with hydraulic systems advantageous.
