Groundsperson
Job description
Assisting in the efficient and effective maintenance and repair of grounds, buildings, and facilities within Drumalis. Carrying out grounds’ maintenance and horticultural works in a safe, efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Outdoors-General maintenance of gardens, paths and walkways using jet washing machinery, and report any potential trip hazards or causes of concern for health and safety requirements to the Site Manager.
- Repair fence panels and remove any potential hazards that are in the grounds.
- Grass cutting, clearing low level hanging branches or overgrown foliage.
- Shrub, flower bed, planter and basket maintenance.
- Hedge cutting, strimming and weed spraying.
- Tree planting and basic pruning.
- Cleaning of leaves and debris.
- Litter-pick the outdoor area by using a variety of equipment including blowers, sweepers etc.
- Carry out general external maintenance of the building including the cleaning of gutters, rainwater systems and unblocking of drains.
- Indoors - preparation of rooms for activities, arranging chairs and tables, beds, moving furniture, clearing up after activities when required.
- General Maintenance - doors, locks, curtain rails, floors, minor repairs, reporting of faults and damage. Undertaking various types of painting (fences, walls etc) painting dealing with emergencies (leaks, floods, etc) while on call or as needed.
- Security Duties - routine and non-routine opening of doors, gates, windows, security of sheds and outhouses, custody of keys.
- To carry out any other duties at the direction of the site manager as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours.
- Ability to work with initiative and independence but also be aware of accountability to others.
- Able to work with confidentiality.
Desirable Skills
- Relevant experience within a similar role.
- Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety Regulations.
- Good communication skills.
