Assistant Play Coach


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: SPORTS FOR AUTISM This job position requires an outgoing, bubbly individual who can work as part of a team as well as use their own initiative. The person will need to have a passion for working with children and teens as well as a passion for helping children and teens with additional needs. The Assistant Play Coach will support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) during play sessions, helping them engage in social activities, develop communication skills, and promote sensory integration.

Responsibilities

  • Creating structured play environments tailored to the needs and interests of each individual.
  • Implementing behavioural strategies and creating fun games to develop social communication and motor skills.
  • Collaborating with the lead play coach and parents to track progress and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Cleaning responsibilities - cleaning up after each class, wiping down equipment and surfaces, cleaning flooring and ensuring everything is ready for the next session.
  • You may also be required to help with filing systems and social media platforms.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Childcare qualification.
  • Experience working with children in a professional setting.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good teamwork skills.
  • Up to date Access NI.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in working with children with any additional needs.
  • Experience with children with ASD.
  • First Aid trained.
