Support Worker
Job description
Millburn Close is a 24-hour supported living service for adults with complex and enduring mental health needs. Based in a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of Knockbracken Healthcare Park, the service includes a mix of self-contained flats and bungalows for 26 individuals, along with shared communal areas, activity spaces, and a team office. Our aim is to support each individual to live independently and with dignity, while providing person-centred assistance around their recovery, social inclusion, and emotional wellbeing. As a Support Worker at Millburn, your days will be meaningful and diverse. You’ll work as part of a supportive team delivering personalised support to people living in their own homes within the service.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a trusting and professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive and empathetic manner towards them.
- Contribute towards a harmonious and therapeutic environment.
- Support Service Users to manage their physical health, mental health and wellbeing through the development and implementation of an individual support plan.
- Involve Service Users in all aspects of decision making and be sensitive to difficulties encountered by Service Users.
- Deliver care and support within the context of a social inclusion and recovery approach which is designed to work with people to find and maintain hope, re-establish a positive identity, build a meaningful life and take responsibility and control.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- To be willing to work various shifts which may include days, nights, evenings and weekends.
- Experience of supporting an individual with household tasks and/or providing emotional support
- An interest in working with people within a care environment.
