Deputy Preschool Leader


Job description

The Deputy Preschool Leader will support the Preschool Leader in the day-to-day management of the setting, ensuring a safe, caring and engaging learning environment for children. The successful candidate will take a proactive leadership role and assume responsibility in the absence of the Preschool Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Support the daily operation of the preschool.
  • Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating a high-quality play-based curriculum.
  • Promote inclusive practice and support children with additional needs.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Level 5 qualification in Early Years/childcare (or equivalent as recognised by the EA) OR Level 3 qualification in Early Years/childcare (or equivalent) AND willingness to enrol on and complete a Level 5 qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an early years setting.
  • Experience in leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Desirable Skills

  • Paediatric First Aid training. Safeguarding/Designated Child Protection Officer training.
  • Experience within a voluntary or committee-led setting. Experience in supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
