Since opening in December 2005, Hillsborough Village Centre has become a hub of activity and a community focal point. The whole complex is a not-for-profit charity venture and every penny of income generated over and above running costs is re-invested to maintain and improve the facilities and equipment available. While our main focus is facilitating community activities, we also provide facilities for commercial users in rooms equipped with digital projectors, laptops, and smart TVs. We are currently seeking to recruit a Centre Attendant to support the day-to-day operation of the Centre, someone with great customer service, a ‘can-do’ attitude and happy to get stuck into whatever is required.
Responsibilities
- Maintain excellent customer service to all visitors and users of the centre, dealing with general queries, or the booking of rooms or facilities.
- Support the operation of the key booking system (Skedda) and input of ad hoc payments into Zettle.
- Have key holding responsibilities which include the duty of opening and closing / securing the premises and acting as officer in charge, when required.
- Set-up tables, chairs and other necessary equipment in all rooms as required
- Set-up sports equipment including nets on the outdoor pitches and move them as required
- Day to day cleaning of changing rooms, shower areas, toilet facilities and the Centre in general
- Maintain the Centre by removing all rubbish and unwanted items from the outdoor pitches and surrounding areas. Empty all outdoor bins as required
- Administer basic first aid where appropriate
- Prepare tea/coffee for guests as required
- Handle and maintain all equipment within the complex, including cleaning materials. Prepare facility areas and report any defects or potentially hazardous situations to their immediate supervisor
- Be responsible for the security of the premises and the implementation of Hillsborough Village Centre’s Health and Safety Policy
- Implement all Hillsborough Village Centre’s policies, procedures, terms and conditions
- Attend training courses as required by the Centre Manager
- Such other duties as may be allocated
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Customer Service experience, which could be in retail or working in a similar public-facing role
- Use of IT systems including experience of using online processes
- The ability to move and handle heavy equipment
Desirable Skills
- A flexible approach and willingness to get stuck into whatever is required
- A passion for great ‘customer service’, ensuring everyone who steps into the Village Centre is greeted and supported appropriately.
- Available to work flexible shifts, if necessary, as the Centre typically operates 8.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Friday, and until 6pm on a Saturday
Further Information
Salary: National Living Wage so circa £24k if over 21 years old and working a full-time 38-hour week (part-time hours will be considered and would be paid pro-rata). Flexible working hours.
