Medical Receptionist/Administrator
Job description
My client based BT11 area of Belfast require a part-time Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to provide an effective & efficient service to the Practice.
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients in person and on telephone, making and cancelling appointments.
- Update patients computer records as directed.
- Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
- Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
- Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
- Process incoming & outgoing mail.
- Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.
- Responsible for opening the premises punctually and locking and securing the premises at night.
- Ensuring that upon opening/closing the surgery that the telephone system has been transferred to/from the out of hour’s service.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent.
- Proven verbal, written & interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy skills.
- 2 years experience in a similar role to include telephone & face to face contact.
- Flexibility to cover sickness & holidays.
Desirable Skills
- Working within a GP surgery advantageous however full training will be given.
- Experience in a customer care role.
- A knowledge of medical terminology.
Further Information
Temporary with the view to becoming permanent. Work Time: Surgery open 8am - 6pm. 20 hour post, days, start & finish times to be discussed.
