Medical Receptionist/Administrator


Job description

My client based BT11 area of Belfast require a part-time Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to provide an effective & efficient service to the Practice.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients in person and on telephone, making and cancelling appointments.
  • Update patients computer records as directed.
  • Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
  • Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
  • Process incoming & outgoing mail.
  • Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.
  • Responsible for opening the premises punctually and locking and securing the premises at night.
  • Ensuring that upon opening/closing the surgery that the telephone system has been transferred to/from the out of hour’s service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent.
  • Proven verbal, written & interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy skills.
  • 2 years experience in a similar role to include telephone & face to face contact.
  • Flexibility to cover sickness & holidays.

Desirable Skills

  • Working within a GP surgery advantageous however full training will be given.
  • Experience in a customer care role.
  • A knowledge of medical terminology.

Further Information

Temporary with the view to becoming permanent. Work Time: Surgery open 8am - 6pm. 20 hour post, days, start & finish times to be discussed.
