Job description

This is a sleeping duty and as Night Cover your role will be the main point of contact in case of emergencies, you will have sole responsibility for the Scheme between the hours of 10pm to 8am, this will include providing care and support to Service Users, security of the building and reacting to any health and safety issues that may occur.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the building is secure by ensuring all doors and windows are locked. Set burglar alarms and ensure all fire doors are closed.
• Check all electrical items and appliances are switched off and plugs pulled out, except fridges and freezer. Monitor settings of storage heaters where applicable.
• Be flexible and work such hours to meet the needs of the Scheme as are required for the post which will involve being on call through the night.
• Liaise with colleagues and Managers to report and record progress or difficulties and in particularly any issues of concern, unusual behaviour or deterioration in health and ensure compliance with Incident Reporting procedures as required.
• Administer medication to Service Users if required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• To be flexible during night time hours for on call purposes.
• Experience of supporting an individual in a caring field as a paid employee, volunteer or carer.
• An interest in working with people within a care environment.
