We’re now recruiting our founding team and looking for passionate, caring people who want to be part of building something special from the very beginning. The Deputy Manager will support the Manager in the day-to-day running of the daycare and afterschool provision. The role involves ensuring high standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and operational management. The Deputy Manager will lead staff, support compliance with regulatory standards, and help create a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children. The Minimum Standards for Day Care and Childminding for Children Under Age 12 have been developed to clarify requirements laid down in the Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995. In order to comply with this legislation, applicants should have reached 18 years of age by the closing date. Post involves working with children and young people and is subject to the provisions of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (N.I.) Order 2007. Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory clearance of an Access N.I. Enhanced Application.

Responsibilities

• Support the Manager with the daily operation and organisation of the nursery/daycare.
• Assist in supervising, mentoring, and supporting staff to ensure high quality childcare provision.
• Help ensure compliance with the Minimum Standards for Childminding and Day Care for Children Under Age 12.
• Support planning and delivery of age-appropriate learning and play activities.
• Ensure children’s safety, wellbeing, and development are prioritised at all times.
• Assist with staff rotas, room organisation, and maintaining appropriate staff to child ratios.
• Support safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to any child protection concerns.
• Assist with maintaining accurate records including attendance, accidents, and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external professionally.
• Support health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 5 qualification in Childcare or similar relevant qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working with children.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s development and wellbeing.
• Ability to work as part of a team and support colleagues.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in a supervisory or senior role within a childcare setting.
• First Aid training.
• Safeguarding training
