Job description
All our roles make a positive impact on the lives of others; the purpose of this role is to: Provide Tenancy Support Service to a range of clients within the North Down & Ards Area area, liaising with referral agents within the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and other key stakeholders, and ensuring delivery of person-centred, high-quality support.
Responsibilities
- Support the provision of intensive support to individuals and families to secure accommodation.
- Link-up with voluntary and statutory support services that will support and help meet the needs of those referred e.g. registration with GP, mental health services, Money Advice Service.
- Establish and maintain links and build positive relationships with key stakeholders and other services/projects to ensure awareness and knowledge, promote partnership working.
- Take referrals from NIHE and patch manager, contribute to initial assessment with service user, discuss referral with team and housing provider.
- Assist in case management of identified service users and carry a caseload of complex cases.
- Use a person-centred approach to engage service users within the context of a low threshold, high tolerance ethos.
- Develop appropriate service user plans e.g. support plan, budget plans.
- Utilise a strengths-based model to engage with hard to reach service users at their point of need.
- Promote and encourage independence, successful resettlement and community integration and encourage users to develop life skills.
- Facilitate group work with service users as appropriate.
- Participate on the service on call rota as required within the contract.
- Act as an advocate on behalf of service users where consent is provided to do so.
- Represent the Service and Organisation at external project/contract meetings as required.
- Liaise with other MindWise services for signposting and sharing information.
- Support the organisation’s client engagement strategy for the portfolio.
- Attend appropriate internal working and project groups as agreed with line manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Level 2 Essential Skills in Maths and English or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English.
- Able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 to 6 months' recent experience, providing housing support to people within the community in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Or: Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months' experience of providing support in a paid or voluntary capacity in another community or care setting.
- NISCC Registration or eligible to be registered from commencement of role.
- Ability to demonstrate alignment with MindWise’s core values of Passion, Respect, Empathy, Togetherness, Openness & Transparency.
Desirable Skills
- QCF Diploma Level 2 Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
Further Information
To be willing to work flexibly which may include days & evenings and participate in the on call rota.
