Key Operative/Quality Controller


Job description

Our client is seeking a Key Operative/Quality Controller to join their team based in Crossmaglen. As Key Operative, Quality Control, you are responsible for maintaining and enforcing food safety and quality standards across the production floor during your shift. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of quality and food safety standards across the production floor during the shift.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with site quality procedures, food safety standards and customer specifications.
  • Monitor adherence to HACCP controls, CCP checks and quality procedures.
  • Escalate quality or food safety concerns immediately and support investigation and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular quality checks across production lines to verify product standards are being met.
  • Verify that finished products meet approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Support production teams in maintaining consistent product quality and addressing issues that may affect standards.
  • Assess incoming raw materials and ingredients to ensure they meet required quality standards.
  • Collect and prepare samples for testing and laboratory analysis where required.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure quality and compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports and traceability documentation.
  • Ensure all quality and food safety documentation is completed correctly and in line with site procedures.
  • Support monitoring of relevant quality KPIs, including product compliance, waste and process deviations.
  • Support and guide production teams in maintaining food safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in training new employees and agency workers on relevant quality and hygiene procedures.
  • Lead by example in maintaining good housekeeping and hygiene standards across the production floor.
  • Work closely with Operations, Technical and Hygiene teams to address quality issues and maintain standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, reduce waste and strengthen compliance.
  • Support investigations into quality deviations and assist with corrective actions.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in a production or food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to take responsibility and support team members.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to quality and compliance.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to operational issues.
  • Committed to maintaining high production standards.
  • Relevant qualifications, training or experience in a similar role.
