Job description
All our roles make a positive impact on the lives of others, the purpose of this role is to Support and empower people affected by mental health issues live their best lives, underpinned by the recovery model. Support people affected by mental ill health to get the right support early and encourage everyone to take up physical health activities healthy eating programs and physical health screening where appropriate. The key purpose of this role is to provide a safe supportive and stable environment for people experiencing mental health issues improve their quality of life reduce their social isolation and become active citizens in their local community. Please Note: We are recruiting on a rolling basis and will review applications as they are submitted. Responsibilities
- Working together with the individual client and empower them to develop and implement recovery support plans based on their individual needs and strengths.
- Provide person centered support and be empathic in responding to individuals’ emotional and psychological wellbeing.
- Support individuals towards their recovery, self-management and where appropriate independent living skills, such as cooking, cleaning and budgeting.
- Work together with a diverse range of internal and external partners including multidisciplinary teams and the wider MindWise team, to achieve the best outcome for our clients.
- Supporting and contributing to the protection of individuals from the risk of abuse and harm to self or others or from others who access the MindWise service.
- Assist in planning and supporting activities for both individuals and the wider group, within the persons’ home and or community.
- Providing support and guidance to carers and relatives of people with mental health needs.
- Where a domiciliary contract is in place, provide personal care according to the individual’s needs outlined in their recovery support plan.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Level 2 Essential Skills in Maths and English or GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English.
- Able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 to 6 months recent experience, providing support to people with a mental illness either in a paid or voluntary position
- OR demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience of providing support in a paid or voluntary capacity in another care setting.
- To be willing to work various shifts which may include days, nights, evenings, and weekends.
- NISCC Registration or eligible to be registered from commencement of role.
