Job description

As Senior Carer, you will be maintaining effective record-keeping, administering medication, leading and supporting the team of dedicated staff in providing person-centred care and support services to our residents. You’ll drive performance through supervision and mentoring of staff, delivering induction and coaching and you will be a strong role model, with residents’ needs, dignity and respect at the heart of the role.

Responsibilities

• To motivate all staff within the homes and lead by example.
• To coach and support Care and Domestic staff, supervise their day-to-day work and manage their work performance by way of regular one to one meetings.
• Take the lead in welcoming and inducting new employees into the home and ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the job required of them.
• To provide effective management of the home, ensuring at all times the highest achievable standards of care are delivered to residents.
• To work closely with the manager at all times, ensuring that the manager is informed of any changes to residents, staff and the environment.
• Ensure the wellbeing and safety of all residents within the home, whilst on shift, ensuring that care is delivered as per the care plan.
• Comply with regulations and policies involving the ordering, storing, administration and disposal of medications.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care and a minimum of two years’ experience working in a care/support environment OR five years’ experience, without an NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
• Be registered, or be prepared to register, with the NI Social Care Council at the time of taking up an offer of employment.
• Have sound computer/IT skills including knowledge of email and word processing.
• Clear and concise written skills.

Desirable Skills

• NVQ 3 in Care or working towards award.

Location: Marriott House, Magherafelt. Wage: £28,793.39 - £31,901.01 per annum with sleep in allowance of £75 per night.
